My Story

In August 2024, my life took an unexpected turn. After 20 years in a corporate HR career, I became a primary caregiver—a role that reshaped my values, priorities, and sense of purpose.  Unlike previous challenges, this wasn’t temporary. There was no clear end point, only uncertainty.

To be the best version of myself for those I care for—and for me—I made a bold decision: I stepped away from corporate life and started my own business.

Why?

Because I needed something that gave me focus, creativity, and meaning. Something that allowed me to help others while navigating my new reality.

Today, I combine my experience in HR with my passion for supporting people through change.

How Blackstar Alchemy started?

I first registered the business on 10th January 2025.  I remember the date because it was a week before my birthday, but more importantly it was the birthday of my previous feline companion Tipsy (see left).

I have loved animals from a young age and Tipsy was my rescue cat whom I adopted when she was 7 years old and stayed with us for 14 years, passing away peacefully at the age of 21 years old in May 2024.

She was my little star and whilst she was not completed black, I needed a unique name and this seemed to be a good start.

The word combination grew over time.  Both words have a number of different meanings, but for me they are about;

Black Star - a guiding light to help you navigate through challenging and uncertain times.

Alchemy - is about following a process that allows significant change or transformation.
